11th ISHARA INTERNATIONAL PUPPET FESTIVAL (PUPPETRY)

Ishara Puppet Theatre’s annual festival returns in its 11th year with a diverse selection of performers and forms from around the world. The group, founded in 1986 by Dadi Pudumjee, works with a core group of puppeteers, artists, actors and dancers, incorporating puppets, masks and objects into performances. This year’s festival has a mix of modern and traditional forms, ranging from rod, string and shadow puppets, and includes performances with dance, theatre and music. Highlights include A Musician Who Played the Moon by Iran’s Yasna Puppet Theatre Group, Ravan Chhaya by shadow puppeteers from Odisha’s Ravan Chhaya Natya Sansada and The Pier is Alive from Portugal, among other performances.
