Featuring a live music performance by the composers Salim and Sulaiman Merchant, this musical based on Mirza Hadi Ruswa’s nineteenth-century work Umrao Jaan Ada narrates the journey of a courtesan. It is a story of love and struggle told through traditional ghazals, thumris and qawwalis.
