On 1 June, Kranti Sena, a right-wing Hindu organisation, held a worker’s conference in Muzaffarnagar. Their main demands were—a Muslim-population control law, the proclamation of India as a Hindu rashtra, the end of all minority commissions, deportation of Bangladeshi undocumented immigrants and the rehabilitation of displaced Kashmiri Hindus. The convention was attended by around 500 people. The local administration had denied their demand for a Trishul rally in the city. Several of the speakers made indirect references to violence against Muslims.
