On 31 July, inter-religious violence broke out in Haryana’s Nuh after a Bajrang Dal-organised rally through Muslim majority areas. In provocative videos, Monu Manesar—a member of the Haryana government’s Cow Protection Task Force, who stands accused of killing two Muslim men—and Bittu Bajrangi, a Bajrang Dal leader, announced they would join the march. Following the violence, Haryana police arbitrarily arrested hundreds of Muslim youth from nearby villages and the administration began demolishing Muslim-owned houses and shops. The Caravan spoke to several affected Muslim households about the arbitrary arrests, and how the Haryana administration targeted them after the Nuh violence. Video report by Prabhjit Singh.
